iPhone OS 3.0 - Good news for iPhographers
The list of refinements & features in the new OS is huge but we just want to share a few things that may be of interest to iPhographers
  • The best thing is, even though only a subjective judgement by eye, iPhographs are much sharper & with less noise. Yay!
  • A feature I really love is that in the settings, you can set your home button so that when you double click, it launches the camera super quick
  • iPhographs in your library no longer turn upside down, just sideways. So you wont get that problem of them spining around and around when you have a sideways photo in your library & your looking for the right layout
  • When pinching & zooming in your camera roll, you can now zoom much further in
  • Share, copy, & delete multiple iPhographs by pressing the little box with an arrow icon in the bottom left hand corner then selecting
  • You share up to 5 iPhographs but with the cut & paste, you can put as many as you want into an email
  • Tap & hold iPhographs in mail to magnify
  • Favorites in your old YouTube app can be merged with your YouTube account when you sign in to the new app
  • A another handy feature is you can now close an app while their opening if you launched the wrong one. No more waiting till its fully loaded
  • The camera app loads faster & closes quickly & smoothly
  • In the new Camera app it now shows a thumbnail of your last iPhograph in the bottom left instead of an icon, which is great for quickly knowing if your last iPhograph was saved. When you click on it, it opens the camera roll but you can now click done to get back to the camera
  • It’s possible to view gifs in your photo library
  • To force quit apps you to hold the sleep/wake button until the red slider appears, then hold down the home button to quit the app

So all in all, it’s been a great update for iPhographers. I think, if like me you dont have the dosh to splash out on the new iPhone 3G S, then this should hold you over till you can upgrade.

I’ll say again that the best feature for me apart from the improved sharpness is the ability to double click the home button an open the camera app super quick all without looking. You’ll have no excuse for missing that next shot & I dare to say that it’s even quicker than turning most cameras on

Also don’t forget that as announced in the developers conference, the new OS has an API allowing manufacturers to be able to control accessories thru the dockport or by bluetooth etc. This is going to have a big impact with iPhographers allowing all kinds of accessories such as remotes, flashes & more. There is also other API’s that allow peer to peer communication & to seamlessly connect so that you will be able to share files or maybe work in apps with someone near you

So if you haven’t updated, go do it now!
